Brilliantine

"Oh the heavy water how it enfolds,
The salt, the spray, the gorgeous undertow.
Always, always, always the sea,
Brilliantine mortality."

Brilliantine is the invention of French perfumer, Ed Pinaud, and is a hair grooming product for men. It consists of a perfumed and coloured oily liquid, and is intended to soften men's hair, includng beards and moustaches, and give it a glossy, well groomed appearence. Brilliantine is derived from the French word 'Brillant', which literally means 'brilliant'. The French title of the film 'Grease' is 'Brilliantine'.
