Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoyevsky was a Russian novelist, essayist and philosopher, who is widely recognised as one of the the most influential writers of all time. His most prominent works include 'Crime & Punishment' and 'The Idiot'.

His works explore the human psyche in the troubled political, social and spiritual context of 19th century Russia, and he is conssidered a founder or precursor of 20th century existentialism. His work 'Notes From Underground' is called by Walter Kauffman "the best overture for existentialism ever written."
